You Can Make A Difference In The World

--from Pastor Kerrie Palmer

I do not know how much time I have wasted thinking "I can't" do something, especially when it comes to doing something with and for God. What I do know is that being focused on the "I can't" of living is useless. The "I can't" mindset wastes the time given for us to live. Instead, I want to know how I can make a difference in the world.

Living in an "I can" mentality comes through the belief that God--who created the universe and beyond--not only invites us to serve with Him but trusts you and I to make a difference.

God has designed you and I to be a part of His work in the world. Our experiences, interests, passions, personality, and abilities along with specific spiritual gifts enable us to fit into a specific place of service.

The Apostle Paul explained this concept in Ephesians 2:10:
For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

The word, workmanship, can be translated as masterpiece-- a work in progress . . . If we ask God to intervene in our life, He will continually scoop up everything we experience and use it to shape and form us to be who we are created to be, empowering us to make a difference in the world!

Furthermore, we are created in Christ Jesus--through the presence of Christ we are made new--transformed to live in Light rather than in darkness. So . . . we are being created to do good works rather than to be self-absorbed with busyness and/or circumstances. We are created to make a difference in the world!

And it just gets better . . . God has prepared us--we have what we need to make a difference anywhere, anytime! You and I can make a difference in the world today and tomorrow. Amazing!
